Our Pastor

Pastor Clark and his wife Sue have served the Lord in full time ministry since 1988. Graduating from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 1984 he later completed his work on a master’s degree in Biblical studies/Biblical counselling in 2006, also from Maranatha. His full-time ministry began in Jacksonville, Florida teaching High School Bible and History. During this time he also coached varsity football and was active in the local church. Later he served in Illinois as an assistant pastor and school administrator. In 1993, he accepted a call to a senior pastor position in Michigan, serving in Michigan for five years and then at First Baptist Church in Oregon, Illinois for 16 years. In March of 2014, the Lord led the Clarks to accept the call to Prairie Winds Baptist Church in Elkton, South Dakota where they served until coming to Fairmont in late August 2020.

The Clarks raised four children and have 15 grandchildren. They are rejoicing that all their children have come to know Christ as their Savior. All four have married believers, are active in their churches and have a heart for the things of God.

Pastor Clark has had the privilege of serving on the board of the New Testament Association of Independent Baptist Churches, the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Illinois, and the board of Camp Joy in Whitewater, Wisconsin. He has also helped in the Christian school ministry as part-time administrator/principal in both Michigan and Illinois.

Pastor and Sue enjoy serving the Lord together and are thankful for the churches in which they have ministered over the years. Favorite activities include anything involving the local church, having time with our children and grandchildren, a morning walk, and a ride on their Trek bikes. Sue enjoys teaching children, hospitality and many crafts, especially making old-fashioned homemade soap. Pastor enjoys sports, especially high school, and college football, and enjoys reading theology and World War II history.

The Clarks are thankful that the Lord has brought them to Fairmont Baptist Church. They purchased a home in Fairmont and look forward to ministry and service with their church family and in the community.
